chrysostom
Why would John introduce himself three times in the first chapter of the Apocalypse? Because there are three different Johns. One "who bare record". One who wrote "to the seven churches". One "who also am your brother". John the Baptist John the Apostle John Chrysostom It fits with history. chrysostom
John Chrysostom was in Ephesus replacing seven corrupt bishops at the same time Jerome was finishing his Vulgate. At the beginning of the fifth century, it was not clear if the bible should include the Apocalypse. Jerome put it in.
chrysostom
Revelation 17:10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. Rome had seven dynasties and John Chrysostom is the only one who could say, "five are fallen".
