Fasting

Recommended Posts

Been looking into fasting more recently and it has been shown to either improve or "cure" seemingly incurable illnesses.

There are prolonged fasts (over 72 hours), 3 day fasts, 24 hour fasts, OMAD fasting, then you have the 20/4, 18/6, 16/8, and 14/10 fasting eating cycles which is intermittent fasting. All of them have been shown to be beneficial to some degree. The easiest one for people to follow is having a 10 hour eating window and fasting 14 hours a day. The best benefits start with fasting 16 hours a day. High success is rated with eating one meal a day.

Some people choose to do the calorie reduction fasting which you pick 2 days a week where you only eat or drink 500 calories. Those can be beneficial too. Or you do a full 24 hour fast 2 days a week.

I think the human body was designed to have fasting periods as a means to rest and repair. I am going to try sticking with the baseline of 14/10 and see how I feel. So I will stop eating at 6PM (my dinner being my last meal) and then eat at 8AM which is usually 30 min after I wake up. This will also cut out most of my snacking which will benefit me too.

I noticed already that my skin looks brighter and not as sickly. I have a bit of red normally on my cheeks and it has reduced by 30 or 40%. I am still having stomach issues but they feel like they are improving. I will keep at it. Oh, and since starting I have lost about 3 pounds. Not bad for 5 days without working out.

Exercise is more important than diet.
