The oldest church in Portugal

It is almost 1400 years old and is the oldest church in Portugal. A fantastic monument unknown by most people and that deserves more attention.

Have you ever visited the oldest church in Portugal? This simple but beautiful building witnessed the history of Portugal for many centuries. It is over 1000 years old and has seen all the most important episodes in our history. In Lamego, in the North of Portugal, the chapel of São Pedro Balsemão was built in the 7th and 8th centuries. It is 4 km to the east, in the valleys of the river Balsemão. Considered the oldest church in the country, despite being heavily modified, it preserves the sanctuary from the 7th century, with Visigoth origins.

I don't know much about Portugal let alone their churches but I do like to learn the history of them. I think it is interesting and fascinating how long some of them have been around and everything the churches have been through. I will check these videos out soon!
