Being There
You may not be old enough to remember this strange movie. Didn't understand it but I am still haunted by it and will have to watch it again if I can find it. Few are talking about the importance of having a father and I would like to suggest that 'being there' is at least 80% of being a father. It is also said that all you really have to do is show up. You may not know what to do or even what to say. Don't worry about that. Just show up.

Sounds like this was the original Forest Gump, might take a look at it, thanks for sharing. :classic_happy:

I never heard of it. Not even anyone mentioning it.

I do agree about the father role. It seems like men were never designed to be away from their children. Like back in the day, when he went to work, his boy or boys would join him and learn from him while he worked. The girls would learn from the mother. Everyone was better off. Now we have the state raising the kids and the parents being too concerned with work or careers to notice their children are heading down dark paths.

I watched "Being There" again on YouTube. Shirley MacLaine may be my favorite actress. A speaker at a conference I attended said, "you get 80% just for showing up". Oftentimes we don't know what to say or do and forget that all we really have to do is show up. Being there is really important.
